Mesilla Valley Hospital Appoints New Medical Director

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – (Dec. 10, 2009) – Mesilla Valley Hospital, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, is pleased to announce Lauren Bonner Lee, M.D., as Medical Director. 

Before joining Mesilla Valley, Lee served as both a staff psychiatrist at Four County Mental Health Center and Medical Director of the VJ Reddy Behavioral Health Unit at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kan.

“Dr. Lee brings many years of quality psychiatric experience and leadership to Mesilla Valley Hospital,” said CEO Maggie McCowen. “Her accomplishments offer a level of expertise that will greatly benefit the hospital, and her commitment to behavioral health will greatly benefit the Mesilla Valley community.”

Lee earned her degree from Southern Illinois University and completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. After completing her residency, Lee continued her training with a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Washington in Seattle. She has participated in several research studies, has published a number of articles in leading peer-reviewed journals and has made more than two dozen appearances as a television guest and invited lecturer. Lee is board certified in Psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and holds medical licenses in Kansas, Arizona and New Mexico.

Lee also has extensive experience in geriatric psychiatry.  Based on this expertise and commitment to serving this population, Mesilla Valley has recently opened a new geriatric unit.
